Audioquest DragonTail USB OTG Cable

Overview

Many Android phones and tablets can send digital audio to an external DAC, but older models with a Micro-USB port need the right adaptor to do it. The AudioQuest DragonTail USB-A to Micro-USB is a small adaptor with a female USB-A socket and a male Micro-USB plug, made to connect a DragonFly DAC to those devices.

AudioQuest says the DragonTail activates USB Host Mode on most Android devices, which lets the phone or tablet transmit USB digital audio to an outboard digital-to-analog converter. The DAC then handles the conversion and headphone drive instead of the device's own audio circuitry.

It is shielded for a clean signal and uses a 4-pin USB Type-A connector to promote reliable signal transfer, and AudioQuest lists it as compatible with PC and Android.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

Before you rely on it away from home, connect your DragonFly at home first and confirm your Android device passes audio through it. AudioQuest says it works with most Android devices, not all of them.
