Audioquest Cinnamon Optical Cable

Overview

An optical cable is the simplest way to send digital audio from a TV, streamer, or game console to a soundbar, receiver, or DAC. The AudioQuest Cinnamon Optical is a Toslink fiber-optic digital audio cable made for soundbars, subwoofers, and a wide range of A/V components.

It uses a polished lowest-dispersion, highest-purity fibre to minimize timing errors, improve bandwidth, and optimize performance. When light disperses in a fibre it takes a longer path and arrives late, which can stop the receiving device from decoding the signal properly, so less dispersion means less distortion in the analog sound you finally hear.

Finely polished optical interfaces at each end and low-jitter design round out the cable, and AudioQuest supplies it with a 3.5mm mini-adaptor for devices with a mini optical jack.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

Optical cables don't like tight bends, so route it with gentle curves behind your TV or rack. Available here in 0.75m, 1.5m, 3m, and 5m.

Why the AudioQuest Cinnamon Optical Stands Out

Lowest-Dispersion Highest-Purity Fibre

A lowest-dispersion, highest-purity fibre minimizes timing errors and improves bandwidth.

Finely Polished Optical Interface

Polished fibre ends help get light cleanly into and out of the cable.

Low Jitter

Designed to reduce timing errors in the digital signal.

Fits Most Toslink Connectors

A simple connection to soundbars, subwoofers, and A/V components.

3.5mm Mini-Adaptor

Supplied with a mini-adaptor for devices with a 3.5mm optical jack.

Less Dispersion, Less Distortion

AudioQuest's goal: the less light dispersion in the fibre, the less distortion in the final analog signal.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Soundbar Owner: Connects a TV to a soundbar or receiver with an optical output.
  • The Digital Source User: Sends audio from a streamer, CD transport, or console to a DAC.
  • The Home Theatre Builder: Wants AudioQuest optical cables across an A/V system.

How It Compares

The AudioQuest Pearl Optical uses a low-dispersion fibre, and the Forest Optical a low-dispersion, high-purity fibre. Cinnamon moves to the lowest-dispersion, highest-purity fibre of the three, with the same polished ends and mini-adaptor as Forest.

Audioquest Cinnamon Optical Cable FAQs

What is the AudioQuest Cinnamon Optical used for?

It carries digital audio over Toslink between components such as a TV, soundbar, subwoofer, receiver, streamer, or DAC.

Why does fibre quality matter?

Light that disperses inside the fibre takes a longer path and arrives late, which can stop the receiving device from decoding the signal properly. Less dispersion means less distortion in the final analog sound.

Does it fit standard optical ports?

Yes. It uses Toslink connectors, and AudioQuest supplies a 3.5mm mini-adaptor for devices with a mini optical jack.

How should I route an optical cable?

Use gentle curves rather than sharp bends, and avoid pinching the cable behind furniture or wall-mounted equipment.
