AudioQuest Chicago Audio Interconnect RCA-to-RCA

Overview

Good cables let the components you chose carefully sound the way they should. The AudioQuest Chicago RCA to RCA is an analog audio interconnect (2 x Male RCA to 2 x Male RCA) for connecting a CD player, streamer, DAC, phono preamp, or other source to an amplifier or receiver.

It uses solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors, which AudioQuest says sound smoother and clearer than regular OFHC copper, and direction-controlled conductors so induced noise is dissipated and drained properly. Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation absorbs and reflects most RF noise before it reaches the ground layer.

Nitrogen-injected Hard-Cell Foam insulation keeps signal-pair geometry stable along the cable's full length, Double-Balanced Geometry separates the ground and shield, and cold-welded, gold-plated terminations make the connection without solder.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

Choose the shortest length that comfortably reaches between your components, leaving a little slack so the plugs are not under tension. Available here in 1m and 2m.

Why the AudioQuest Chicago RCA to RCA Stands Out

Solid LGC Conductors

Fewer oxides, impurities, and grain boundaries than regular OFHC copper, with solid conductors to prevent strand interaction.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

Conductors are oriented so induced noise is dissipated and drained properly.

Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation

Absorbs and reflects most RF noise before it reaches the layer attached to ground.

Hard-Cell Foam Insulation

Nitrogen-injected foam keeps signal-pair geometry stable for a consistent impedance and lower distortion.

Double-Balanced Geometry

Separates ground and shield for a relatively lower impedance on the ground and a cleaner, quieter sound.

Cold-Welded Gold-Plated Terminations

A solder-free connection made with a high-pressure process.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Hi-Fi Owner: Wants a well-built RCA interconnect between source and amplifier.
  • The Box-Cable Replacer: Is replacing generic cables that came with a component.
  • The System Builder: Wants consistent AudioQuest cabling through a stereo system.

How It Compares

The AudioQuest Evergreen shares solid LGC conductors and Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation, while Chicago adds nitrogen-injected Hard-Cell Foam insulation. The Big Sur steps up to solid PSC+ conductors.

AudioQuest Chicago Audio Interconnect RCA-to-RCA FAQs

What is the AudioQuest Chicago RCA to RCA used for?

It is an analog audio interconnect (2 x Male RCA to 2 x Male RCA) for connecting a CD player, streamer, DAC, phono preamp, or other source to an amplifier or receiver.

What conductors does it use?

Solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors. AudioQuest says LGC sounds smoother and clearer than regular OFHC copper.

How does it handle noise?

Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation absorbs and reflects most RF noise before it reaches the layer attached to ground, rather than draining it into the component's ground reference.

Are the connectors soldered?

No. AudioQuest uses cold-welded terminations, which create a solder-free connection.
