Audiolab 9000N Network Streamer & USB DAC

Overview

Streaming should sound as good as your best CD and be just as easy to use. The Audiolab 9000N is the network streamer and USB DAC from Audiolab's 9000 Series, giving you Qobuz, TIDAL, Spotify, internet radio, and your own music library through one source with balanced XLR and RCA outputs.

You can stay in the apps you already use. The 9000N supports AirPlay 2, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and Spotify Connect, including Spotify Lossless, and it is Roon Ready. The Audiolab 9000N app adds hi-res icons for Qobuz and TIDAL tracks, intelligent search, and playlist creation, and it plays files from UPnP music servers and USB storage drives.

Inside, the ES9038PRO eight-channel DAC chip from ESS's Sabre range is paired with an Audiolab post-DAC filter circuit designed specifically for it. A Quad Arm Cortex-A53 processor keeps operation steady, and the 4.3-inch colour IPS screen shows full album artwork, format details, and analog or digital VU meters, or it can be dimmed or switched off.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

The 9000N plays over Ethernet or dual-band Wi-Fi, so it does not have to sit beside your router. Its variable analog output (0 to 2.05V) gives you volume control from the streamer itself, and it is built to sit beside the 9000A and 9000CDT, with the same rotary controls, 4.3-inch screen, and Black or Silver finish.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Hi-Res Streamer: Listens on Qobuz or TIDAL and wants a dedicated streaming source built around a flagship DAC.
  • The Roon User: Wants a Roon Ready endpoint with balanced outputs for a main system.
  • The 9000 Series Owner: Wants a streamer that matches the 9000A and 9000CDT in size, controls, and finish.

How It Compares

Against the Audiolab 7000N Play, the 9000N moves from the ES9038Q2M DAC to the eight-channel ES9038PRO, adds balanced XLR outputs and a PC USB input, and replaces DTS Play-Fi with Audiolab's own app plus Roon Ready support. Its 4.3-inch screen is also larger than the 7000N Play's 2.8-inch display.
