Audiolab 9000CDT CD Transport

Overview

A CD collection deserves a transport that reads every disc cleanly, including the scratched ones. The Audiolab 9000CDT is a dedicated CD transport from Audiolab's 9000 Series, built to send a clean digital signal to an external DAC or to the matching 9000A integrated amplifier.

A high-precision optical system with a read-ahead electronic data buffer helps it play scratched and damaged discs that conventional mechanisms may struggle with. The transport sits in its own electromagnetically shielded enclosure with a dedicated power supply, and a low-friction loading tray on a sturdy aluminum base and chassis helps tackle vibration from the high-speed motor.

A high-accuracy crystal oscillator controls the master clock for very low jitter on both coaxial and optical outputs, and the coaxial output is fed by a differential line driver. A rear USB Type-A port plays MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV files from a storage device, all shown on a 4.3-inch IPS display.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

The 9000CDT has no built-in DAC, so it needs a digital input on the other end. Paired with the 9000A, whose ES9038PRO DAC accepts its coaxial or optical output, it makes a matched 9000 Series stack in Black or Silver, and the rear USB port means a drive of ripped files can play through the same system without a computer.

More Info

Why the Audiolab 9000CDT Stands Out

Read-Ahead Data Buffer

A read-ahead electronic buffer helps the 9000CDT play scratched and damaged CDs that may be unreadable by conventional mechanisms.

Shielded Transport Enclosure

The transport is mounted in its own electromagnetically shielded enclosure with a dedicated power supply.

High-Accuracy Master Clock

A high-accuracy crystal oscillator keeps jitter very low on both the coaxial and optical outputs.

Differential Line Driver

The coaxial digital output is fed from a differential line driver.

Vibration Control

A low-friction loading tray, sturdy aluminum base, and chassis work to tackle vibration from the high-spin-velocity motor.

USB File Playback

A rear USB Type-A port plays MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV files from FAT12, FAT16, or FAT32 storage devices.

4.3-Inch IPS Display

A detailed but simple GUI shows system settings, format, folder, and track information.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The CD Collector: Has a large disc library and wants a dedicated transport that handles scratched discs well.
  • The 9000 Series Owner: Wants a matching digital source for the 9000A integrated amplifier.
  • The Separate-DAC Listener: Already owns a DAC and wants a transport with low-jitter coaxial and optical outputs.

How It Compares

The 9000CDT is the 9000 Series counterpart to the Audiolab 7000CDT. Both are dedicated CD transports with a read-ahead buffer and USB file playback; the 9000CDT moves up to a 4.3-inch IPS display (versus 2.8 inches on the 7000CDT) and the full-width 9000 Series chassis that matches the 9000A.
